How I Make A YouTube Video
Переглядів 2498 років тому
Just thought I'd share how I go about making a UA-cam video.
It’s crazy to see how fleshed out and deep Linn’s playstyle is, but no one barely knew or used her back in the day.
This game deserves a re-release on modern platforms.
👏👏👏👏👏👏 Finally someone isn't a mark and blind. All i here is how great all this is and im like technically you can already get all these games on emulator software. So that does beg the question why should you buy that hardware? There is a difference between bad audio and real slowdown than these marks trying to tell people that the fos is down a couple. Or the big one is input lag, do people actually know what input lag is, you usually here all these games today have input lag. Um no they don't that's not exactly what the problem is at times. Sometimes it is just some dips and slowdown. Gakes are rushed so they don't catch the hiccups. But appreciate the video that's my favorite shooter and i could tell the audio was off and the first of the gameplay was off it had some lag/slowdown..
Thank you for the comment! :)
nice video
The real crime is that this is only 15 min long. Should be 15 hours.
Great vid bro 👌
What a soothing narrator
I’m just thinking out loud here and I don’t own the arcade PCB but from looking at pictures of the PCB the sound area has a potentiometer, at least one maybe two? Which could explain the differences with audio (explosions) as demonstrated in your video, and could also explain why the ADPCM and DPM volume can be adjusted independently in the core. Also, I agree the explosions sound more powerful in your examples, including MAME but we should be cautious about using MAME as a reference. Finally, regarding videos on UA-cam, have you tried searching with the Japanese name or kanji characters? I found quite a few examples of the arcade when searching.
Ahh see? I did not! Do you think the core sounds accurate to those Japanese videos with the core volume adjustments? I kinda actually hope it does, because that just means better things for shmups. I really just don’t know for sure anymore.
@@TheHiddenFortress81 that’s hard to say, a lot of times with old arcade boards, especially ones that haven’t been maintained, recapped, etc, values can vary from board to board, resulting in different sound and volume. I think Jotego touched on that in one of his patreon posts. That being said the explosions in the Mister core do some a little quieter than you would expect. I would like to hear 2 or 3 more examples from real boards before making a final judgment though.
@@shain6946yeah true, that is why I recap all my boards. i’ll take another look around but the difference in the music in Out Zone plus the 5 frames of lag in Truxton 2 is a little strange. I made this video only to either start this conversation, or just to say, this is the conversation I’d like to see more of before I shell out $700 so I appreciate the comments. :)
@@shain6946 I was just thinking about it, and really unless a core dev working on that core shows up online and proves the core is 100% accurate like Kevtris kinda used to back in the day we probably wont ever know for sure. But the fact that that core dev had the time to delete my first post on the same day i posted it on the GitHub but didn’t even respond for months to the second post, makes all my instincts tell me something’s not right, and I’m probably going to keep my $700. Just for me personally.
Thanks for this, I like comparison videos. Jotego really did a great job on the core. Nice one 👍🏻
Right? Jotego does fantastic stuff.
The trick of the FPGA system is that the problem of adjusting the emulator to a specific game disappears. Software emulation will never give the same result as hardware emulation using FPGA. With software emulation, we emulate the launch of games. With FPGA, we emulate the launch of the platforms on which these games are launched. On most glitch-free emulators, the most popular games from the platform work fine, because the emulator is being tested on them. The less popular the game is, the more likely it is that it will fail or not start at all. With FPGA, if we get the core of any system, then any software developed for this system will run 100% correctly. After writing the FPGA core, we get the entire library of games from the platform. That's the advantage of FPGA over softwired animation.
Ah so what you’re saying is this Truxton 2 core is closer to the PCB than say ShmupArch? I’ve just never seen that much a difference between PCBs and consoles I own, and the FPGA core of said hardware before. I’m still not really sure how we know the audio is correct. Outzone runs on the same hardware as Truxton 2 right? That one also seems to have a bit of a difference in the audio. I think I’m still just not sure how we would know those cores are 100% correct.
@@TheHiddenFortress81 FPGA emulation is good as much as core is well written. Updates are periodically released to already released cores. But, as I wrote above, this is a glitch of the entire core, not a specific game, as it happens with software emulators.
@@ViTverd yes that’s why I put Outzone at the end of the video. ;)
@@TheHiddenFortress81 Outzone is a different board to Truxton 2.
@@g0dhard i’m still not sold on those cores sounding like they should.
I just want to raise a few things to you as a fan that has been following MiSTer since 2019, especially arcade cores. First off, if you take a cursory glance at the GitHub page, you can see that all the sound modules are written by Jotego. Given that he is often regarded as the arcade FPGA expert and earns thousands of dollars a month, it’s understandable that the Coin Op guys believed his implementation was reliable. However, as you heard it clearly wasn't. I think it has taken all this time to sort out the issues with Jotego's sound chips. This seems to be a recurring theme with Jotego and his audio; for example, the CPS1 audio still isn't fixed as the sound levels are still off, the levels on his cores also being a recurring theme. Other than making sound work, atrac17 didn't have much control over the module implementation and had used Jotego's sound chips in good faith. I'm also not sure how accurate MAME is as a reference. If you had the original PCBs, you could probably settle this issue, but oh well. I'm all for examining FPGA cores closely, and I'm pretty sure the Coin Op guys would agree. A good example is fixing the Truxton 2 sound despite using a less-than-perfect module. So perhaps your efforts would be better directed at addressing Jotego's audio issues with the numerous cores he has? I'm sure you will find plenty of examples, enough to probably make a series out of them and although he's not releasing a console per se, he has certainly made a lot of money. Thanks.
Hi I dont have a mister or any FPGA sistem, but I know when I play insector X on mame, that some sfx are too loud at the default, and there is options in mame where you can adjust the volume for each sfx channel- Maybe for truxton 2 core on mister also is some option to adjust the certain audio channels.I don't think on left and right audio channels but sfx channels. My english is not so good but I hope you understand me.
Yep. The video shows me adjusting them on Mister. Twice. The first time is right at the beginning. I have those sound effects turned up as high as possible. The MAME footage was recorded at default volumes. Thank you for your comment! :)
This channel had so much potential. They would have 100s of thousand of subs by now if they kept going. Hope they ok.
Awsome review! 🤘
Hey thanks man! I’ve been kinda bummed out on retro gaming this past week and that’s nice to see. Thank you.
Good video. At 5:55 however I recommend jumping over the puma and then wait for the guy be away from you and jump and kill the bird in the air.
This game is hard, man. People say Blaster Master is tough? They don't know what they're talking about. Haha
It reminds me of Bionic Commando.
Love me some Sega.
Bought the game, came here for justification, laughed my ass off. Awesome vid!
Hey guys, I wanted to ask you about this video, do you still check the UA-cams?
Mega awesome dude
Nice video. I am in south jersey as well. Cool stuff.
dafuq? that was hilarious
Attempts at being corrupted aside it always blew my mind that someone would have the balls to kidnap the former wrestling champion and ex-street fighter's daughter, like as if he wasn't gonna then start twisting people into pretzels. The is my all time favorite arcade game, I use to play it in a pizza shop on my lunch breaks( with a slice of pepperoni) from a different restaurant where I could've eaten for free, lol. That said I do wish they would make some sort of port of Capcom's Alien vs. Predator.
We send our condolences that you had to play this game.
That's still my favorite video lol!
Love this game!
Looks like Loaded for ps1
Great video I just wish capcom would have released more of their arcade classics , like alien vs predator and cyber bots . X-men children of the atom and Marvel super heroes on a PS 2 collection
What's the game you show at 4:13 saying that you usually prefer vertival shmups?
Nexzr. Its very cool. One of the Summer Carnival games. Also check out Recca. :)
Any Toaplan shooters
Some those i havent played. Good call. Truxton is amazing...one of my favorite soundtracks in a game. Grew up with Tiger Heli too. The nes cart not the board.
Ah mate, I definitely need to give this one a go! Love pretty much everything about this. Soundtrack is ace and it generally just looks pretty mental! PC Engine kicks so much ass, gotta love it.
Hah! Yeah the pc engine is incredible and its a shame we didnt get even half the games on the tg16.
To me, R-Type 3 for the snes is just raddest. It was the first shmup I owned and played religiously. It also had a weird soundtrack and cool weapons.
+Fifty8's I've actually not played R-Type 3. Played the hell out of R-Type for the TG16, and R-Type Delta on the Playstation. Maybe I should try and get a R-Type 3 for the Super Famicom, cause that snes cart is wildly expensive. Good call duder. :)
If the god of Valhalla designed the sound for a game this would be it haha love it!
+timmyboi420 Thank you sir! :)
Holy Crap! I got to get a wii u so I can play this. love the soundtrack!
Compared to what me and my friends were playing when this game came out, the soundtrack is insane. Actually, compared to a lot of what i play now its insane haha.
I think the whole point to this kind of game besides the game play is the music. It's the one thing that makes it so much better and the music fits the game so well! It pumps you up to keep going!
+alexconner1982 I agree, somebody wrote a review of this game somewhere and said that they thought the music didn't fit. I REALLY don't see it that way. I think it's fantastic. Thanks again for watching Mr Connor. :)
awesome game! Although I think I might enjoy double dragon a dash better!
+Matt Gilbert Double Dragon is a great game. :)
Love the video! Interesting indeed. Need to play this again now. Such a classic!
+Jonathan Langley It really is. And I love these kinds of games. Plus, it's pretty cheap to get a hold of a good port.
Really good vid dude :D I never thought about the backstory of final fight ever! :D
+World of TRASH I have a tendency to over analyze stuff. So I figured why not make some videos about it.
I got this game on Snes. Do you have Undercover Cops too?
+Joe Nexus 7 Sadly no.
If Mike had a mullet, it would change everything.
+Trevgauntlet I bet Haggar could make the mullet work.
The Hidden Fortress would a shotgun work or is that extreme for him?
+Trevgauntlet Hah, I don't think anything is too extreme for Mike Haggar.
I played this when I was young! I always wondered what it was called! thank u!
great video! my mayor was fat and stole money to pay for his sons wedding reception!
Hahaha exactly
Great video. Thanks for the tips!
Love the music in this game but yeah I suck at it. Hahaha. You make it look so easy! Much more patience than me and some great tips there. Great video overall infact! :-)
+MyGamerXP Thanks! :)
I will say, despite disagreeing with you about the game, I think this was a very well made and well thought out video. I appreciated the time and effort that went into it and the quality, audio and video, was high. The theory that it isn't really meant to be a game, while a bit of a stretch, is at least unique and some interesting food for thought considering LJN's roots. I also appreciated that you attempted to show viewers how the game's mechanics work rather than just blindly fumbling around and complaining about the lack of instructions (like some other well known reviewer, who shall remain nameless). If you're interested, though by your opinion of the game you might not be, I created a 50 page PDF guide for this game about a year ago complete with breakdowns, maps, and strategies. It can be found in the link of my most recent video. I am currently working on updating it with information I have learned in the past year and I will be looking further into your clockwise theory.
+TripleZeroFilms Let me tell you what I appreciate. Your comment. :) You made my night. Thank you for saying those kind things. When I see these comments it makes me want to push on and continue generating content. I try really hard to say something new in the videos we make, and to keep things as interesting as possible. And if everyone agreed with me I'd say that would be really boring. :) Seriously I always appreciate it greatly when anyone watches these videos and comments. Thank you so much. And I probably will take a peak at that PDF actually.
Hotline Miami is one of the best games I have played in recent times. Great art, story, concept, and fantastic game play that is reminiscent to me, of the True Lies video game.
+OldMan Orange True Lies...for snes? No shit...I'm gonna have to play that. Good call man.
Check it out. It's amazing how similar it is. A fantastic classic. I think the Genesis Version is the better one though. Its got more blood.
Awesome review and breakdown! Found it through Instagram (I cosplayed as Jacket this weekend and y'all liked it on there). I started playing this game 4 days ago and fell head over heels for it. It's immaculate and thrilling. Stunning piece. And oh my gosh, I can't believe what you said about completing a level. I agree 100%! It's been such a long time since I felt GOOD about finishing a level, as opposed to just being like, "Welp, that level's done. What's gonna kick my butt NOW?" This game was so rewarding.
Thankya sir!
I've been meaning to check this game out for ages and if it gets a big thumbs up from The Hidden Fortress then that's a good enough reason to give it a go! Great video. Nicely done.
Thanks! And yeah you'd probably love it.
Hotline Miami!!! I really have no idea how 2 dudes could possibly create something so wonderful
Seriously.
it took me forever to beat. had to put the controller away more then once.
Yeah its so satisfying when you finally beat it though.
